Homeowner planning guidance
Compare concrete quotes on the same scope
A lower total is useful only when you know what each proposal includes.

Start with one written project description
Give each contractor the intended use, approximate dimensions, access limitations and desired finish. Identify items that need a site assessment rather than presenting assumptions as facts. Ask each contractor to flag changes to that starting scope.
Check the missing lines
Compare preparation, removal and disposal, base work, concrete specification, reinforcement if specified, joints, finish, drainage, cleanup and aftercare. Ask who handles permits or design input when needed. A blank line is a question to resolve, not proof that the work is included.
Agree how changes are authorized
Request a written process for unexpected conditions and added work. Before accepting a proposal, confirm the business identity, appropriate license and insurance, payment schedule and terms. Keep copies of the scope and any revisions. Keep the business details and scope together so you can compare proposals fairly.
